Charges laid in series of armed robberies at southeast CTrain station: Calgary Police

Calgary, Alberta – We have arrested and charged a man and a woman believed to be responsible for multiple targeted violent incidents that occurred at the Anderson CTrain station platform.

On Friday, Feb. 3, 2023, at approximately 7:45 p.m., police responded to witness reports of an unknown man allegedly pointing a shotgun at two citizens, and robbing one of them, at the Anderson CTrain station platform. Police circulated the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

A month later, on Friday, March 3, 2023, at approximately 5:15 a.m., a woman was assaulted at the same platform by another woman who sprayed the victim with bear spray.

Later that same day, at approximately 6 p.m., a man and a woman were assaulted by the same suspects believed to responsible for the previous incidents who attacked the victims using nunchucks and bear spray.

After collecting and reviewing CCTV footage and speaking with multiple witnesses, investigators were able to identify the two suspects.

On Wednesday, March 15, 2023, police arrested both suspects at a residence near Anderson station, where a firearm, ammunition, nunchucks, a bow and a homemade baton were also seized. It is believed the suspects and victims were known to each other, and these were targeted attacks.

The Calgary Police Service continues to work with The City of Calgary and Transit to address the safety issues in and around Transit locations across the city.

As a result, one man and one woman are facing 40 combined charges.

Rayleen Annie DIXON, 29, has been charged with:

One count of assault with a weapon

Two counts of using a dangerous weapon

Two counts of carrying a concealed weapon

Two counts of administering a noxious substance

Kevin Terrance BLACK RABBIT, 33, has been charged with:

Two counts of using a dangerous weapon

One count of careless use of a firearm

Two counts of carrying a concealed weapon

One count of unauthorized possession of a firearm

Two counts of wearing a disguise with intent

One count of possession of a firearm without a licence

15 counts of possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order

One count of carless use of a prohibited weapon

One count of possession of a firearm with serial number removed

Seven counts of failing to comply with conditions of a release order

DIXON is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, April 19, 2023.

BLACK RABBIT is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, March 30, 2023.

“A tremendous amount of hard work goes into ensuring the safety of all Calgarians, including working with Transit Peace Officers, to protect our public transportation system and its ridership,” says Staff Sergeant Mark Auger of the Calgary Police Service Investigations Unit. “In all of these cases, quality CCTV footage and numerous witnesses provided key information for officers to advance this investigation and ultimately apprehend those responsible for these violent incidents.”
