Saskatoon Police Service arrest man on firearms related charges

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – The Saskatoon Police Service has arrested a man on firearms related charges after a disturbance call on Friday.

On March 31, 2023, at approximately 2:30 p.m., police were called to the intersection of Avenue P South and 20th Street West for the report of a fight in progress. The caller indicated a man and a woman were fighting near the intersection. Upon arrival officers located two people, who were taken into custody, without further incident.

The male was identified to have outstanding Criminal Code warrants, and was subsequently arrested and searched. Officers found he was carrying a sawed off shotgun inside a backpack. The female was released without charges.

A 21-year-old man is charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Unauthorized Possession of Firearm, Possession of Prohibited Weapon Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized, Careless Use/Storage of a Firearm, and Breach of Conditions.
