Police lay charge in recent west Edmonton homicide

Edmonton, Alberta – The Edmonton Police Service has charged a 32-year-old Edmonton man in relation to the death of a woman in west Edmonton on the weekend.

At approximately 8:30 p.m., Sunday, April 2, 2023, West Branch patrol officers responded to a trouble not known call at a residence in the area of 109 Avenue and 122 Street. Upon arrival, they located a deceased 27-year-old female inside.

On Wednesday, April 5, 2023, the Edmonton Medical Examiner completed an autopsy and determined Lauren Jarvis, 27, died of asphyxia and the manner of death is homicide.

Homicide detectives has since arrested and charged Ryan Farrell, 32, with second degree murder in relation to Jarvis’ death. Investigators have confirmed that Jarvis and Farrell resided at the same address in different suites but were not well acquainted.
