Breton RCMP arrest two males following a break and enter in progress

Brazeau County, Alberta – On April 9, 2023, at approximately 3:38 p.m., Breton RCMP received a report of a residential break and enter in progress.

A property owner arrived at his residence and interrupted two male suspects attempting to gain access to his home. The male suspects proceeded to ram the home owner’s vehicle in an attempt to flee the property.

Breton RCMP, with the assistance of Thorsby and Drayton Valley RCMP, located the suspect vehicle, and a tire deflation device was used to stop the vehicle. The vehicle they were operating was confirmed to be stolen out of Wetaskiwin, Alta. near the end of March, and had a license plate attached to it which was stolen out of Edmonton, Alta.

The male suspects fled on foot into the surrounding wooded area, and were located shortly after with the assistance of the RCMP Police Dog Services.

Levi Rain (28), resident of Breton, Alta., was arrested and facing multiple charges including:

· Break and enter to commit theft

· Possession of stolen property over $5,000

· Fraudulent concealment

· Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (x3)

· Assault with a weapon (x2)

· Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle

· Flight from police

· Possession of stolen property under $5,000

· Mischief, damage to property

· Prohibited operation (x3)

· Fail to comply with a release order (x4)

· Fail to comply with probation

· Possession of meth

· Resisting arrest

Christopher Minnett (47), resident of Fort Saskatchewan, Alta., was arrested and facing multiple charges including:

· Break and enter to commit theft

· Possession of stolen property over $5,000

· Fraudulent concealment

· Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (x3)

· Assault with a weapon (x2)

· Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle

· Flight from police

· Possession of stolen property under $5,000

· Mischief, damage to property

· Fail to comply with a release order (x3)

· Prohibited operation (x3)

Levi Rain and Christopher Minnett were held for a judicial hearing, and subsequently remanded into custody. Both are scheduled to appear on April 26, 2023 in Breton Court of Justice.
