Canmore RCMP on scene at fatal collision on Palliser Trail at Exit 86 – SCENE CLEARED

Canmore, Alta. – Canmore RCMP advise that the collision scene is now clear.

BACKGROUND

Canmore, Alberta – (4:48 PM) On April 20, 2023, at approximately 1:50 p.m., Canmore RCMP, with the assistance of Emergency Medical Services, responded to a serious motor vehicle collision between an SUV and a pickup truck on Palliser Trail at Exit 86 in Canmore.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the SUV was travelling westbound and the pickup truck was east bound when they collided.

The driver of the truck, a 39-year-old male, a resident of Canmore, was transported to a local area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the SUV, a 67-year-old male, a resident of Canmore, was declared deceased at the scene. Our thoughts and prayers are with the deceased’s family and friends.

The RCMP Collision Analyst is currently on scene and RCMP are asking motorists to avoid the area. An update will be sent once the scene is cleared.
