Lethbridge Police charge driver in connection with fatal pedestrian collision

Lethbridge, Alberta – Lethbridge Police have charged a 33-year-old woman in connection with a pedestrian collision where a male was killed and a female sustained critical injuries.

On January 17, 2023 at approximately 3 p.m. police responded to the intersection of 26 Avenue and 28 Street North. EMS were already on scene and a 66-year-old male was declared deceased. A 62-year-old female was taken to Chinook Regional Hospital with life-threatening injuries and later transferred to Calgary by STARS. She remains in hospital at this time.

Investigation determined a GMC truck was travelling eastbound on 26 Avenue North and proceeded to make a northbound turn onto 28 Street North striking the pedestrians as they crossed in the crosswalk. The driver immediately stopped and called 911.

Bobbi Raquel Whillans, 33, of Lethbridge, is charged with dangerous driving causing death and dangerous driving causing bodily harm. She is scheduled to attend court on May 25.
