Whitecourt, Alberta – On April 25, 2023, at approximately 12:30 p.m., Whitecourt RCMP received a call from a local school that a student may be in possession of a handgun after he was seen with a loaded magazine. School staff searched the youths backpack, locating a handgun.
The youth has been arrested and the investigation is ongoing.
No one was injured at the school and there were no threats made to the school or any students by this youth. The school board has alerted parents regarding the incident.
As the suspect is a youth, no further details will be released.
