Calgary Police investigating a downtown stabbing; “altercation took place between five individuals”

Calgary, Alberta – One suspect is in custody and three others are at large following an incident that took place at a downtown CTrain station.

At approximately 6:35 p.m., Thursday, May 4, 2023, we were called for reports of an assault involving a weapon at the Eighth Street S.W. CTrain station. Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from what appeared to be stab wounds. The victim was transported to hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

Investigators have determined that an altercation took place between five individuals believed to be known to each other, which ultimately resulted in the male victim sustaining stab wounds.

One suspect was taken into custody after fleeing the scene and charges are pending. Three other suspects remain at large.
