Edmonton, Alberta – The Edmonton Police Service has formally laid charges against a 26-year-old Edmonton man in relation to seven incidents involving four victims that took place in a northwest Edmonton neighbourhood in April.
The incidents, which took place between Sunday, April 2, 2023, and Sunday, April 30, 2023, involved a male committing distinct and varied crimes, including assaults and, most recently, sexual assaults. All of the incidents targeted females, and all took place in the Cumberland neighbourhood between the hours of 6 a.m. and 9 a.m.

On Tuesday, May 2, 2023, police issued a warning about these incidents after investigators confidently determined there was a connection between all seven incidents in the neighborhood.
“Prior to considering a public warning, investigators must have evidence to suggest a link between incidents,” says Inspector Sean Armstrong with the EPS Serious Crimes Branch. “This investigation was unique, as the accused initially committed different and individual offences that did not immediately show an obvious connection.”
“When the incidents began taking place in public, and the accused’s behaviour escalated and became more brazen, officers quickly established links between the crimes and issued a public warning,” says Armstrong. “We are grateful for the diligent teamwork of investigators that resulted in a swift arrest.”
Austin Dean St. Germain, 26, has since been charged with sexual assault, sexual assault with a weapon, choking to overcome, break and enter with the intent to commit theft (x4), robbery (x2), possession of stolen property and fraud under $5,000.
Sexual Assault Section continues to investigate and is asking anyone who may have been victimized to contact the Edmonton Police Service at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous information can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.p3tips.com/250.
