At around 4:00 am, the homeowners were awakened by three people who came across the fire. The three good Samaritans knocked on the front door and bedroom window to alert the residence to get out of the home.

The homeowners, two adults and three children, were able to get out of the home safely.

Before emergency services arrived, the homeowner and neighbour worked together and dragged the vehicle away from the residence to prevent the fire from spreading to the garage and home.

“This arson is very concerning as there was a family, including young children, asleep in the home when the fire was started. It could have easily spread to the residence”, said Corporal Julie Courchaine of the Manitoba RCMP. “We are asking the public to share any information they have on this incident by calling the Selkirk RCMP or Crime Stoppers.”
