Edmonton Police investigating serious pedestrian collision that sent a young boy to hospital

Edmonton, Alberta – The Edmonton Police Service Major Collision Investigation Section is investigating a collision involving a pedestrian that sent a young boy to hospital.

On Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at approximately 6:50 p.m., a 11-year-old boy and his friend were riding their scooters on the sidewalk eastbound on 153 Avenue approaching 45 Street. The boys attempted to cross 153 Avenue in the unmarked crosswalk when the 11-year-old was struck by an eastbound vehicle. The boy sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital by paramedics where he remains in stable condition.

Major Collision Investigation Section attended the scene and took over the investigation.

Investigators are asking any witnesses or anyone who has dash camera footage from the area of 153 Avenue and 45 Street around the time of the collision to please contact police.
