Norway House RCMP looking for man after shots fired in a home with children

Kinosao Sipi, Manitoba – On May 3, 2023, at approximately 8:45 am, Norway House RCMP responded to a home invasion at a residence in the community of Kinosao Sipi. When officers arrived, they learned that three males had entered the home all dressed in black, with bandanas and hoodies tied tight around their faces. The family, including four children, were all home at the time. Shots were fired inside the residence.

An adult female was able to get two of the children out of the house, while two others remained inside. The children range in age from 6-13. None of the children were physically injured.

A 50-year-old male resident of the home confronted the men and was stabbed. He received serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

The three males then fled from the residence, joining three other involved males outside.

Investigation revealed the suspects. All except one were from Kinosao Sipi. Over the next several days RCMP arrested five of them:

Peter Sheldon Keeper, 34

Cory Joseph Keeper, 35

Bradley John Easter, 29, from Moose Lake

Malcolm William McLeod, 28

Robert William Menow, 28

Menow was released by a judge with a future court date. The others were remanded into custody. They face charges that include:

Break, Entering and Committing – Residence

Aggravated Assault

Robbery with a Firearm

Discharge Firearm while Being Reckless

Using Firearm in the Commission of an Offence

Weapons Possession Contrary to Order

Possession of Restricted Firearm

RCMP continue to look for Evan Cromarty, 29. Cromarty was previously wanted on four arrest warrants and is now wanted in relation to this incident as well. He is described as six feet tall, 170 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. It is believed he is still in the community.

During the investigation, police seized a loaded sawed-off shotgun. Police continue to investigate whether this is the weapon used in the offence.
