Edmonton, Alberta – The Edmonton Police Service is investigating a fatal hit and run collision that claimed the life of a 62-year-old male earlier this morning in downtown Edmonton.
On Friday, May 12, 2023, shortly before 2:30 a.m., police responded to reports of a hit and run collision around Jasper Avenue and 115 Street. It was reported that a 62-year-old male was crossing south across Jasper Avenue at 115 Street before being struck by an eastbound, light colored four door sedan. Following the collision, the driver of the sedan drove off and did not remain at the scene.

EMS attended the scene and rushed the pedestrian to hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The EPS Major Collisions Investigation Section (MCIS) has since taken over the investigation and continues to look into contributing factors.
The intersection of Jasper Avenue and 115 Street has since been reopened to traffic. Police continue to search for the sedan and its driver.
