Turner Valley, Alberta – On May 12, 2023, 7:45 p.m., Turner Valley RCMP were dispatched to a call of a motor vehicle collision on Highway 22, between 498 Avenue and Highway 541. Upon arrival, officers determined that there had been a head on collision between an SUV and a passenger car. One vehicle had rolled and then a third vehicle, a pick-up, was involved in a secondary collision with one of the initial vehicles.
One person was declared deceased at the scene and another was transported to a Calgary hospital by STARS. The deceased, a passenger in the car, was an 18-year-old male resident of Eden Valley First Nation. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
An RCMP Collision Reconstructionist attended the scene and the investigation is on going. Highway 22 was closed for some time but has since been re-opened.
No further information will be released at this time.
