Canmore, Alberta – On May 14, 2023, at approximately 4:50 p.m., Canmore RCMP received a report of an armed robbery at a local grocery store. Store staff reported that two suspects were shoplifting, and when approached, one suspect threatened the staff member with a firearm. They then fled the scene.
After extensive investigation, on May 15, 2023, two suspects were arrested.
Jesse James Gunn (34), of no fixed address, has been charged with a total of 29 offences, some of which include:
Possession of a prohibited weapon (x2)
Carry a concealed weapon (x2)
Careless use of a firearm (x4)
Breach of conditions of release order (x5)
After a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, Gunn was remanded into custody and his next court appearance is in Alberta Court of Justice in Canmore on May 24, 2023.
The second suspect was not charged in this investigation.
