UPDATE: Weyburn/Fillmore RCMP on scene of serious multi-vehicle collision on Highway 13 near Weyburn, Saskatchewan

Weyburn, Saskatchewan – On Monday, May 29, 2023, at approximately 4:40 p.m., Weyburn RCMP received the report of a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 13, east of Weyburn, SK.

Saskatchewan RCMP officers from the Weyburn/Fillmore detachments and the Traffic Services Unit responded immediately. Preliminary investigation indicated a SUV was stopped on Highway 13 to make a left turn off of the highway when a pick-up truck collided with it from behind. As a result of the impact, the SUV was pushed onto oncoming traffic and did not collide with any other vehicle.

The SUV had two occupants, the driver and a passenger. The adult driver was taken to hospital for injuries described as being serious, but non-life-threatening. The front passenger, a 54-year-old male, was declared deceased on scene by EMS. His family has been notified.

The pick-up truck had two adult occupants, who were both taken to hospital for injuries described as being serious.

A Saskatchewan RCMP Collision Analyst and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service attended the scene.

Traffic restrictions and re-routes are no longer in place.

The investigation is ongoing.
