Edmonton Police lay additional charges in 2020 homicide

Edmonton, Alberta – The EPS Homicide Section charged two more men in relation to the 2020 death of Aaron Watt.

On Apr. 14, 2022, Faron Paul Howse, 37, was arrested and charged with first degree murder, accessory after the fact to murder and indignity to a dead body.

On Sep. 15, 2022, Brandon Jordan Dumais, 29, was arrested and charged with first degree murder, accessory after the fact to murder and indignity to a dead body.

The second degree murder charge against Colin James Lepretre, 29, who was arrested on Dec. 14, 2021, has since been changed to first degree murder.

The cause of death, which was previously withheld for investigative reasons, was a gunshot wound.

Background

At approximately 10 p.m. on Jan. 26, 2020, police received a call for assistance from Edmonton Fire Rescue Services for a fire in the area of 126 Avenue and 73 Street. Upon arrival, police located Aaron Watt, 24, deceased.

An autopsy was conducted on Jan. 28, 2020. The cause of death was not released at the time. The manner of death was deemed homicide.
