Edmonton, Alberta – The Edmonton Police Service is investigating a shooting that took place in downtown Edmonton overnight.
Shortly after 11:00 p.m. on June 1, 2023, police responded to the area of 97 Street and Jasper Avenue for reports of a shooting. It was alleged that an altercation took place outside the Edmonton Convention Centre between two groups that were known to each other.

During the altercation, several shots were allegedly fired by a male from one of the groups. One of those shots struck a 17-year-old female bystander, who was not part of the altercation. She was taken to hospital in a civilian vehicle with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police took two males into custody and continue to investigate at this time.
