West Shore, BC – On June 5 at approximately 5:50 a.m. the West Shore RCMP responded to a report of a collision involving two vehicles at the intersection of Old Island Hwy and Burnside Rd West in View Royal.

Officers attended the scene and learned a F150 had ran a red light located on Old Island Hwy just before heading onto to the Trans Canada Hwy on ramp, and collided with a Honda Civic that was making a left turn from Island Hwy (coming from View Royal), on to Island Hwy heading into Colwood.
The collision resulted in severe front-end damage to both vehicles, the F150 wound up on top of the meridian cement barrier directly underneath the railway bridge at this location. The south bound lanes heading into Victoria were shut down for approximately 1.5 hours while crews worked to clear the scene causing a significant back up in traffic for morning commuters.
The driver of the Honda Civic was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the F150 was uninjured and charged under the Motor Vehicle Act for Driving Without Due Care and Attention. Both vehicles were towed and all lanes of travel were re-opened by 7:30 a.m.
