Stolen vehicle collides with police vehicle in Winnipeg, Manitoba – Suspect ARRESTED

Winnipeg, Manitoba – On June 3, 2023, a 2006 Lincoln Mark LT pick-up truck was stolen from Stonewall, MB. As previously reported, on June 7, 2023, the stolen vehicle was being operated near Main Street and Belmont Avenue when it collided with a police cruiser.

As a result of the collision, two Winnipeg Police Service members sustained serious injuries and were transported to hospital, where they remain at this time.

While additional attending officers attempted to take custody of the driver of the stolen vehicle, the suspect refused to follow directions and made repeated efforts to evade police.

Mckae LEDINGHAM, 25, has been charged with the following:

– Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance Cause Bodily Harm x 2

– Cause Bodily Harm by Criminal Negligence x 2

– Resist Peace Officer

– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

– Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order

He was detained in custody.

BACKGROUND

Winnipeg, Manitoba – On June 7, 2023, at approximately 4:00 a.m., North District General Patrol officers from the Winnipeg Police Service observed a stolen Lincoln Mark pick-up truck operated by a lone male near Inkster Boulevard and St. Cross Street.

As officers were attending the area of Main Street and Belmont Avenue, the stolen truck collided with a Winnipeg Police Service cruiser resulting in a serious motor vehicle collision.

Two officers were transported to hospital and treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries. A male suspect was taken into custody and treated for his injuries.

The investigation is continuing by the Traffic Collision Investigation (TCI) section.
