Duchess, Alberta – On June 26, 2023, at approximately 9:30 a.m., two Fortis Alberta vehicles were parked on the shoulder of Highway 550, just outside of Duchess Alta., when they were stuck by a linen truck. The Fortis employees were outside of their vehicles conducting electrical repairs in the ditch when the collision occurred.

The driver of the linen truck, a 25-year-old male resident of Taber, was declared deceased at the scene, despite life saving attempts from the Fortis employees. Several of the Fortis employees were struck by debris, one of which sustained serious injuries and has been admitted to the hospital.
The Highway is now fully open.
The investigation continues. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the deceased.
