Lloydminster, Alberta – On June 12, 2023, at approximately 1:42 a.m., Lloydminster RCMP were conducting a sobriety check stop along Highway 44.
After an initial investigation, the driver and passenger of the vehicle were arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Officers searched the vehicle subsequent to arrest and located the following items:
7.2 gram of cocaine
a 22. caliber rifle
a sawed-off bolt-action rifle
a two-scale a and drug packaging materials
Canadian Currency
firearm ammunition
a large machete and knife

Branden Joseph Lee Zinger (24) and Daniel Walker (26), both residents of Lloydminster have been charged with the following:
careless use of a firearm x2
unauthorized Possession of a Firearm x2
careless transport of a firearm x2
possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
unauthorized possession in a motor vehicle x2
tampering with a serial number
possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized x2
possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
possession of a prohibited firearm while unauthorized
Both Zinger and Walker were held for a judicial hearing and were both released. Both are to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Lloydminster on July 11, 2023.
