Rocky View County, Alberta – On Aug. 14, 2023, at 5:39 p.m., Airdrie RCMP were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 564 and Range Road 285.
Preliminary investigation indicates that an SUV traveling southbound on Range Road 285 entered the intersection and collided with a Van traveling eastbound on Highway 564. The driver of the Van, a 51 year-old male, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The drive of the SUV was treated for non-life threating injuries.
RCMP Collision Reconstructionist attended the scene. Highway 564 at Range Road 285 is now open.
RCMP continue to investigate this tragic event.

Airdrie RCMP on scene of fatal motor vehicle collision
Rocky View County, Alta. – Airdrie RCMP advise that they are currently on scene of a fatal motor vehicle collision on Highway 564 at Range Road 285. Highway is closed in all directions.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation and traffic is excepted to be disrupted for several hours until the scene examination is completed.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes. An update will be sent when the roadway is clear.
