Cochrane RCMP charge male for stolen property and weapon offences

Cochrane, Alberta – On Aug. 24, 2023, Cochrane RCMP responded to a report of an unknown male passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle in the area of West Terrace in Cochrane. Upon arriving on scene, officers observed drug paraphernalia in plain view in the immediate area of the male driver. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle and licence plate were stolen. The driver was taken into custody without incident. Upon search of the stolen vehicle, officers discovered a large amount of stolen tools, identity documents, weapons and other illicit drugs. Furthermore, the suspect’s clothing matched earlier reports of a male stealing another vehicle also in Cochrane.

Cochrane RCMP’s Detachment Commander Inspector Dave Brunner says, “Property crime has been on the rise in many communities and in our own. We thank the citizens of Cochrane for reporting the suspicious activity to police, resulting in an arrest and recovery of stolen property”.

Kyle Philip Faber (28), a resident of Cochrane, has been charged with 25 offences, some including:

Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000

Unlawful possession of identity documents

Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

Faber was held for a judicial interim release hearing and released with conditions. Faber is to appear in the Cochrane Alberta Court of Justice on Sept. 26, 2023.

The investigation is now before the courts.
