Moncton, New Brunswick – A 33-year-old man from Riverview, N.B., has been arrested following an investigation under the Customs & Excise Act in New Brunswick.
In April 2023, members from the Codiac Regional RCMP and the Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) began an investigation into reports of illegal contraband tobacco being sold at a business in Moncton, N.B.

On August 23, 2023, at approximately 11:00 a.m., members of the Codiac Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) along with the assistance of the Codiac Integrated Enforcement Unit (IEU) executed a search warrant at two different locations simultaneously. One location was a business on St-George Street in Moncton and the other location at a residence on Coverdale Road in Riverview, N.B. During the search, police seized quantities of what are believed to be cocaine, hydromorphone, psilocybin, marijuana, and contraband tobacco products. A 33-year-old man, was arrested at the scene in Moncton.
He was released and will appear in court on January 11, 2024.
This investigation was the result of a joint effort between the Codiac Regional RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit and the Codiac Integrated Enforcement Unit (IEU). The Codiac IEU is made up of members from the New Brunswick RCMP, the Codiac Regional RCMP and Justice and Public Safety officers in the province. These efforts aim to improve the coordinated response to the growing concerns of drugs, firearms, and organized crime within New Brunswick.
The public plays an important role in helping to reduce, prevent and solve crime, including the trafficking of illegal drugs and tobacco products. Anyone with information about, or who suspects, illegal activity in their neighbourhood is asked to contact their local police.
