Calgary Police investigate hit-and-run fatality in the northwest

Calgary, Alberta – We continue to investigate a collision that occurred early yesterday morning where a pedestrian was fatally struck by a truck that failed to remain at the scene.

Just after midnight, on Monday, Sept. 4, 2023, a pedestrian was struck at the intersection of 16 Avenue and Montgomery Avenue N.W.

It is believed a 59-year-old man was struck by a black Ford Ranger truck while he was crossing 16 Avenue N.W. The man was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition where he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the truck fled the scene.

At this time, there is no evidence that alcohol, drugs or speed are believed to be factors in this collision.

The Calgary Police Service Traffic Section continues to investigate the circumstances that led to the collision and is asking anyone with information, including dashcam or CCTV footage, to contact police by calling 403-266-1234.
