Winnipeg, Manitoba – Between June 21 and August 21, 2023, members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a residence in the 100 block of Wordsworth Way for multiple suspicious circumstances involving explosive devices.

The investigation, led by Majors Crimes Unit members, revealed several explosive devices, including remnants, were located by the victim and area residents. It has been determined that the devices had been deliberately discarded on the property and detonated; however, no injuries were reported.
The investigation continued, and a male suspect was identified. It has been determined that the suspect and victim are known to each other, and the incidents are not considered random.
On September 7, 2023, officers arrested the suspect in a vehicle while in the area of the 3600 block of Portage Avenue.
A search warrant was executed at a residence in the 200 block of Harcourt Street. Various items associated with manufacturing explosive devices were located and seized.
Aaron Colby LAVALLEE, 30, of Winnipeg, has been charged with the following:
– Causing an Explosion Likely to Cause Bodily Harm, Death, or Serious Damage x 3
– Unlawful Possession of Explosives x 3
– Fail to Comply with Conditions of a Release Order x 13
– Possession of Scheduled Substance (Methamphetamine)
– Possession of Scheduled Substance (Cocaine)
He was detained in custody.
