Lethbridge Police charge woman in connection with stabbing

Lethbridge, Alberta – Lethbridge Police have charged a 33-year-old woman in connection with an incident where two males were assaulted.

On September 10, 2023 at approximately 5:33 a.m., police responded to a report of a stabbing at the Lethbridge Shelter along the 800 block of 2 A Avenue North. Investigation determined a woman stabbed a 33-year-old male multiple times in the head with a screwdriver, then used the weapon to strike a 72-year-old male. Security staff intervened, containing the woman to prevent further harm. Upon police arrival, the subject refused to comply with the direction of the officers and a conducted energy weapon was deployed. Police seized the screwdriver and a hammer in the woman’s possession.

The first victim sustained head injuries and was transported to hospital by EMS for further treatment. The second victim did not sustain puncture wounds and no medical intervention was required.

Stacy Leigh Carlson, 33, of Lethbridge, is charged with two counts each of assault with a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace.

Following a Judicial Interim Release hearing, Carlson was remanded in custody and was scheduled to make her first court appearance today.
