Calgary, Alberta – The victim of the fatal stabbing that occurred yesterday in the northwest community of Bowness has now been identified.
An autopsy completed today, Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2023, by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, confirmed the identity of the victim as Sean Michael BARBER, 54, of Calgary.

BACKGROUND
Calgary, Alberta – We have charged one man with second-degree murder in relation to a fatal stabbing that occurred yesterday in the northwest community of Bowness.
At approximately 3:25 a.m., on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2023, we responded to reports of a disturbance at a residence in the 7700 block of 41st Avenue N.W.
Upon arrival, officers located one man who appeared to have stab wounds. The man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Investigators have determined the victim was killed during an altercation at the residence. Two men were taken into custody at the scene. It is now believed one of the men was a witness and was not involved in the altercation.
Dennis George HART, 52, of Calgary, has been charged with second-degree murder in relation to the incident. He will next appear in court on Friday, Sept. 15, 2023.
An autopsy is scheduled for 8:30 a.m., today, Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2023.

At approximately 3:25 a.m. today, Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2023, we responded to reports of a disturbance in the 7700 block of 41st Avenue N.W.
Upon arrival, officers located one man who appeared to be suffering from stab wounds. The man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Two men who were also at the scene have been taken into custody.
An autopsy date is being determined. Our Homicide Unit continues to investigate.
