IHIT called to Burnaby to investigate homicide

Burnaby, BC – IHIT has been called to Burnaby after a shooting which has left one man deceased.

Just after 5:00 p.m. on September 16, Burnaby RCMP frontline officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area of North Road and Cameron Street. When police arrived, they located a man deceased in a parkade.

Approximately 15 minutes later, police responded to a report of a vehicle on fire in the area of Bainbridge Avenue and Greenwood Street.

Police have secured both scenes and will remain in these areas as the investigation continues.

At this time, investigators believe the shooting was targeted and there are no further risks to the public.

IHIT has been notified and has taken conduct of the investigation. Further details will be handled by the IHIT Media Relations Officer.

Homicide investigators are looking for witnesses or anyone with dash-cam video in the Lougheed Mall and surrounding areas. If you have dash-cam video in the area between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., please contact IHIT.

Also, if you were in the area of Bainbridge Avenue and Greenwood Street between 5:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. and have dash-cam video, IHIT investigators would like to hear from you.
