Red Deer RCMP respond to fatal hit and run; “vehicle was driving southbound on Gaetz Avenue”

Red Deer, Alberta – On Sept. 17, 2023 at 9:07 p.m., Red Deer RCMP were called to 4217 50 Ave. to assist with a collision between a pedestrian and motor vehicle.

RCMP arrived to the location and both Fire and EMS were on scene.

Witnesses reported that a vehicle was driving southbound on Gaetz Avenue, when it collided with a pedestrian. The driver of the vehicle fled from the scene.

The 32-year-old, male pedestrian from Red Deer, died as a result of his injuries.

The driver of the vehicle turned themselves into police, and has since been arrested. The driver is pending charges at this time.

Red Deer RCMP continue to investigate the collision.
